BATON ROUGE — The Mayor's Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs and the Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Chapter 1 are launching the 5th Annual Hometown Hero Banners Campaign to honor military veterans and active-duty members.

The program places banners along downtown Baton Rouge streets throughout November in recognition of Veterans Day and Veterans Month.

Banners come in two sizes. A single-sided banner costs $85 and a double-sided banner costs $150, with each measuring approximately 2 ft. x 9 ft.

The banners honor veterans and active-duty members both living and deceased. After the display period ends, banners are returned to their owners and can be used again the following year if they are still in good condition.

Families and sponsors who want to participate must submit a payment and a photograph of their hero to Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Chapter 1. The deadline to purchase banners is Oct. 15.
