Managing Editor
WBRZ is seeking a detail-driven Managing Editor to lead and elevate our newsgathering/ digital news team. This role oversees digital producers who populate our digital platforms and social media pages; they're also responsible for traditional "assignment desk" tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced newsroom, understands the importance of speed and accuracy, and is passionate about winning at breaking news and daily coverage across all platforms.
You'll be working in South Louisiana’s only family-owned television station, committed to delivering impactful, local journalism. We have an award-winning investigative team, as well as serving as the official station of LSU and Southern University.
Applicant Requirements
- Proven newsroom experience in digital, assignment desk, or editorial leadership role (at least 2 years in a professional newsroom)
- Strong news judgment and understanding of breaking news urgency
- Experience managing teams and holding staff accountable to performance standards
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Multi-media Journalist
WBRZ, a family-owned TV station in the heart of culture-rich Louisiana, has an immediate opening for a MMJ. Our newsroom in the state’s capital city emphasizes investigative and enterprise journalism, so an appetite for hard news is required. An understanding of digital journalism, including social media reporting and engagement, is key.
Applicant Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- 1–3 years of reporting/MMJ experience (or strong internships/reel)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Broadcast Meteorologist
We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Meteorologist to join our four-person weather team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about weather, confident in front of the camera, and skilled in interpreting and communicating complex meteorological data in an engaging manner. This person will produce daily forecasts on multiple platforms, including television, digital, and social media throughout the workday. Knowledge of South Louisiana is a plus. If you embrace new technology, like to find unique ways to present the weather story, and want to work somewhere that challenges you to try new things, we want to talk to you!
Applicant Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
- 1 to 3 years of on-air experience as a Broadcast Meteorologist
- Be qualified for AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal or NWA Seal of Approval
- Familiarity with TWC Max platforms a plus

Internships
WBRZ offers internships each semester in the following departments: News, Marketing, Information Systems, Production, Graphics, Sports, and Weather. Interns will experience firsthand the daily operations of the department and will perform various duties as assigned. The student must be enrolled in a station-approved college/university and be approved by the college dean/advisor/chair to take an internship course for curriculum credit and grade.
