Drug Take Back Day happening nationwide this weekend - BRPD will collect unused medicine
BATON ROUGE - The semi-annual Drug Take Back Day will be recognized nationally this Saturday.
Law enforcement and healthcare organizations will host similar events statewide to prevent prescription drugs from getting into the wrong hands.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Drug Enforcement Administration and volunteers from Louisiana Blue will collect donations of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at the Baton Rouge Police Department. This gives citizens a chance to dispose of unwanted or unneeded medications safely.
Organizers urge people to clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in unused medications.
During the previous collection day in October 2024, almost 630,000 pounds of medication were collected nationwide.
