Holiday festivities around the Greater Baton Rouge area

BATON ROUGE — It's the start of December, which means it's time for holiday season events. 

Here's a list of festive events to kick off the season.

For the entire month of December, experience the magic of Christmas at Zemurray Park in Hammond as the 33-acre park transforms into a winter wonderland, with thousands of sparkling lights and enchanting displays that will fill you with holiday cheer. Enjoy a family-friendly drive-through light show, perfect for creating unforgettable memories with loved ones. Click here for more information.

Also running for most of the holiday season in Tangipahoa Parish is Christmas at the Rise in Tickfaw, which includes a magical hayride and other activities for all ages. Tickets are available here. The event runs Dec. 6-8, Dec. 12-15 and Dec. 19-23.

Friday, Dec. 20
Christmas Gala at the St. Gabriel Community Center starting at 6 p.m. 

- No Walls Community Christmas Hymn Sing at the Reformation Church in Baker, 10011 Comite Drive. Free hot chocolate and cookies for attendees. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 21

Breakfast with Santa at Fleur De Lis Tea Company in Amite. Click here to book at time to meet St. Nicholas!

- Zachary Police Department's annual Santa's Helpers Christmas gift wrapping party from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 5160 Old Slaughter Road.

- Santa will be giving out gifts at the Central Police Department from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or until the last gift has been given!

- French Settlement Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their 25th annual Christmas parade at 12 p.m., with the route going from the Moonlight Inn to French Settlement Elementary.

- The Donaldsonville Christmas Parade returns at 5:30 p.m., and it starts at the Fairgrounds.

Sunday, Dec. 22
- Toy Drive at the St. Gabriel Community Center starting at 2 p.m.

- Maurepas Christmas Parade starting at 2 p.m.

- Councilman Darryl Hurst is hosting a toy giveaway for District 5 at the Charles R. Kelly Community Center from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. You can find more information here

Monday, Dec. 23
- A Breakfast with Santa Toy Giveaway is being hosted at Capitol Elementary on Gus Young Avenue in Baton Rouge from 9 a.m. to noon.
