Skip Bertman's Celebration of Life service scheduled for Aug. 25
BATON ROUGE - LSU announced on Monday that funeral services for LSU Baseball legend Skip Bertman will be held Aug. 25 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Bertman is revered as the architect of LSU Tiger Baseball for transforming the program from an afterthought in 1983 into a five-time national champion by the time he retired from coaching in 2001. He died at 88 following a brief hospitalization due to heart-related issues.
The celebration of life will begin at 7 p.m., following a private memorial gathering for family and former players starting at 4:30 p.m.
The doors will open at 6 p.m.
General admission seating will be located in the PMAC upper bowl with the entrance being located at the top of the exterior ramps. Floor and lower bowl seating will be reserved for guests of the Bertman family.
General public parking will be available in lots 401 and 404 as well as other available lots surrounding the PMAC.
The event will be broadcast live on ESPN+ along with the LSU Sports YouTube and Facebook pages.

Instead of flowers, the Bertman family requests that people consider a donation to Athletes for Hope, the College Baseball Hall of Fame, LSU Baseball Coach's Committee or the Skip Bertman Leadership Endowed Scholarship, as Bertman had direct involvement in all four initiatives.
