BATON ROUGE — Tara High School has been evacuated after reports of a potential threat on campus were called to authorities on Monday morning. 

The school was placed on lockdown around 11 a.m. on Monday after a call about a potential threat was made to local authorities. Officials told WBRZ that the Baton Rouge Police Department received a phone call about an incident at the school. Officers immediately began sweeping the campus.

East Baton Rouge Parish School System officials confirmed that, around 11 a.m., the school was placed on lockdown and all district safety protocols were enacted. 

Students reported hearing what they believe sounded like a gunshot. Authorities have not confirmed a gun was fired on campus. 

Several East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and BRPD units responded to the school shortly after the lockdown.
