2 officers ambushed while responding to 911 call on Vanderbilt Drive, BRPD says
BATON ROUGE — Two officers were ambushed and shot at while responding to a 911 call, Baton Rouge Police said.
According to BRPD, Bricen Jordan, 24, called 911 on Tuesday and two officers responded to a house on Vanderbilt Drive near Sewanee Drive around 11:30 p.m.
The officers noticed Jordan looking at them through the front window of the house, according to an arrest affidavit. As they exited their police car, Jordan fired three shots at them, the affidavit says.
Arrest documents show that the officers took cover but did not return fire because other people were in the house. The officers ordered everyone to come out of the house, and the others identified Jordan as the shooter.
"They exercised great restraint and didn't randomly shoot, you know, anywhere towards the house itself because they didn't actually know who was actually doing the shooting and who was inside the house," Baton Rouge Police spokesman Lt. L'Jean McKneely said.
Jordan was arrested on two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

"We're blessed and fortunate nobody was injured. It was a very serious situation, but again, officers were able to retreat. They leaned on their tactics and training," McKneely said.
