Baton Rouge Metro Airport celebrates nonstop flights to Lexington ahead of LSU's matchup with a tailgate
BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Metro Airport celebrated Delta Air Lines' non-stop service to Lexington, Kentucky, for LSU's matchup against Kentucky College on Saturday with a special tailgate.
Delta Airlines added more than 40 extra flights ahead of the college football season in an attempt to increase capacity for fans traveling to games, including five LSU games.
The added flights included new Friday and Sunday nonstop service to high-demand matchups, larger aircraft with more frequency on popular routes across the country, additional service from college towns and alumni cities and convenient schedules designed around weekend kickoffs and fan travel patterns.
"This is our third year doing a tailgate," Director of Aviation Mike Edwards said. "About four years ago, United Airlines started offering nonstop flights to select SEC matchups for LSU... We want to show our appreciation for the airlines and to all the fans and travelers who are flying out of BTR for the game."
