BATON ROUGE - An inmate in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison was rebooked for his alleged involvement in a stabbing that happened in a cell. 

Inmate Delvin Cox was booked for aggravated second-degree battery connected to an incident that happened Aug. 11. 

The victim, who had cuts on his head and body, told deputies that he was attacked and stabbed by five other inmates for no reason. He didn't know the names of his assailants, but said he'd likely be able to identify them. 

After looking at photos, the victim reportedly identified Cox as one of his attackers, but was unsure if he was one of the men who stabbed him. 

Deputies spoke to Cox. He said the victim saw him during the attack because he was trying to stop it. Cox said that the victim pulled out a handmade knife and told the other inmates, "'I'm not the one to be played with so don't f**k with me,'" before they commandeered the weapon and used it on him. 

Cox said that while he knew who stabbed the man, he would not "rat" on other inmates. 

Court documents say Cox was booked in February for sexual battery and indecent behavior with a juvenile. He has not posted the $100,000 bail that was set in that case and remained in parish prison.
