MANCHAC — A large police presence north of Manchac is searching for a suspect who jumped from a vehicle during a pursuit Tuesday morning. 

The chase covered parts of I-55 and U.S. 51, officials said, and ended around 6 a.m. just north of the Manchac area. The suspect then took off into the woods, with officers from several agencies responding to the scene between Old U.S. Highway 51 and U.S. 51 Business.

U.S. 51 was closed as a result of the investigation.

Louisiana State Police Troop L is leading the investigation.
