LDWF reminds hunters to check dates and area limits as deer season begins
BATON ROUGE — With deer season underway across the state, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reminding hunters to double-check season dates and harvest limits for the specific deer areas they plan to hunt.
The state is divided into 10 distinct deer areas, each with its own set of dates and bag limits. The main regulation change this season is bag limits for Deer Area 1. Hunters in Area 1 are now restricted to taking a maximum of two antlered deer and up to five antlerless deer.
While individual area rules vary, the overall statewide season limit remains capped at six deer. Hunters should consult the official regulations, as some areas carry lower bag limits.
To accommodate varying regulations across all 10 areas, every licensed hunter will receive six tags with their license: one antlered tag, two either-sex tags (can be used for an antlered or antlerless deer, provided area limits are respected) and three antlerless tags
