BATON ROUGE — A man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he was one of three people who fired into a home on Lexington Drive, leaving one person wounded.

On Friday, police arrested 18-year-old Alexander Dewayne Allen Jr., known by the nickname "Baby Dee," for his alleged role in the March 22 shooting alongside Jason Hayes Jr. and a third unidentified person.

Police said five people were inside the home, one of them asleep on a sofa, when the gunfire began. One person was shot and taken to the hospital. 

Surveillance footage from the area showed three partially masked men approaching the rear of the home before firing multiple rounds into the dwelling and fleeing together, according to police. The Baton Rouge Police Department said detectives found five spent .40-caliber cartridge casings near the rear of the residence. According to police, a witness identified Allen and Hayes from the security footage.

On May 7, detectives obtained a search warrant for Hayes' phone. Police say forensic analysis of the device revealed photographs from March 21 at approximately 4:27 p.m., less than 24 hours before the shooting.

Those photos showed a man wearing clothing and posing with a gun consistent with what was seen in the surveillance footage.

Allen faces five counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of illegal use of weapons and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property.
