KENTWOOD - One person is in custody after one person was killed in a Wednesday shooting in Kentwood, according to officials.

ZyKerien Bickham, 24, died on the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police say Bickham and three other people got into an argument inside the Five Star Gas Station store for unknown reasons, when the four went into the parking lot and one of three people shot Bickham. Police say the shooter also fired rounds that hit Bickham's car where his girlfriend was sitting inside. Police say the girlfriend was not injured.

Officials say the suspect arrested is not believed the shooter, and that the presumptive shooter and another suspect have yet to be caught. All three suspects are within the age range of 17 to 19 years old.

The arrested suspect was 17-year-old Tyler Knox. Kentwood Chief of Police Michael Kazerooni said Knox faces one count of principle to second degree murder, one count of principle to illegal use of a dangerous weapon and one count of principle to attempted second degree murder. Kazerooni said Knox is not the suspected shooter.

"During the argument, during some point in time, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and shot in Bickham's direction," Kazerooni said. "To have something like this happen in the town I grew up in and love, it's mind boggling. It's heartbreaking. It's just crazy."

Kazerooni said this is also the second shooting on this street in roughly a month timespan. In December, a shooting at the Four Way Quick Stop Gas Station between two different men from Mississippi killed one person. The Four Way Quick Stop Gas Station is located next to the Five Star Gas Station.

"We have multiple families now that are going through a crisis, shooters, the victims, it affects the whole community," Kazerooni said.

Kazerooni said he is waiting for the other suspects to be caught before he releases those names.
