OXFORD — College GameDay is being set up at the Grove ahead of what is expected to be a massive weekend, with hundreds of thousands of people anticipated to attend.

Ole Miss sent an email and post to fans reminding them to be respectful and keep it classy ahead of the game.

Louisiana State Police said they would not go into specifics about security plans or personnel numbers before the event. They said they have been coordinating with LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi Highway Patrol to ensure the safety of coach Kiffin and LSU players.

Students were reminded that running on the field will result in arrests and that people will be checked for objects before entering the stadium.

Oxford Police said their mounted horseback unit will be joining out-of-state law enforcement for extra security. The department also said they planned for this weekend months in advance.

"The Magnolia Bowl is always a big deal here. Like, I mean it is what it is. Ole Miss and LSU is always going to be a big game. We expect it to be a big crowd, and we always go into it kind of thinking that's going to be the case. This year is no different," Brec Jones, with the Oxford Police Department, said.

Oxford Police say Ole Miss PD is in charge of security inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. WBRZ reached out to Ole Miss Police Department for more information but has not heard back.
