As temperatures dropped into the 20s, several schools announced their closures for Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025 in anticipation of icy roads and hazardous conditions. State and local offices have also announced closures. Some even remained closed through Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025.

Here is a list of schools that will remain closed after the MLK holiday:

Amite County
- Amite County School District will be closed Wednesday. 

Ascension Parish: 
- Ascension Parish public schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Assumption Parish: 
- All public schools in Assumption Parish will be closed through Monday, Jan, 27. 

East Baton Rouge Parish:
- East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Idea Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Kenilworth Science and Technology Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Inspire Charter Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Hosana Christian Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 
- Zachary Community School District will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Central Community School System schools and offices will close Wednesday and Thursday.
- Southern University Laboratory School will be closed through Thursday.
- Jehovah-Jireh Christian Academy and Learning Center will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Helix Community Schools will be closed Thursday. 
- St. Joseph's Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Central Private Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 
- Dalton Elementary and Lanier Elementary School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- The Dunham School campus will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- Parkview Baptist School will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Baker School System will be closed Wednesday.
- Louisiana School for the Deaf and Louisiana School for the Blind will be closed Wednesday.
- South Baton Rouge Charter will be closed Wednesday.
- EduCare Academy 1 and 2 will be closed on Wednesday. 
- University Lab School will be closed Wednesday. 
- The Brighton School will be closed Wednesday. 

East Feliciana Parish: 
- East Feliciana Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Iberville Parish:
- Iberville Parish public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 

Livingston Parish:
- All Livingston Parish Public schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 

Pointe Coupee Parish:
- All Pointe Coupee Parish schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

St. Helena Parish: 
- St. Helena Parish public schools will be closed Wednesday. 

St. James Parish:
- St. James Parish Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 

St. Mary Parish: 
- St. Mary Parish Schools will be closed through Thursday.

Tangipahoa Parish
- Tangipahoa Parish Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
- All Tangipahoa Catholic schools will be closed Wednesday.

West Baton Rouge Parish:
- West Baton Rouge Parish Schools will be closed through Thursday.
- Holy Family will be closed Wednesday.

West Feliciana Parish:
- West Feliciana Parish public schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. 

Wilkinson County: 
- Wilkinson County public schools will be closed Wednesday.

Baton Rouge Community College's campuses will be closed and have work moved online on Thursday. 

LSU, FranU, Southeastern and Southern are among universities working a remote schedule Wednesday.

LSU, Southeastern  and FranU campuses will remain closed Thursday but will hold remote classes as professors decide. Southern University will remain closed Thursday.

Outside of the capital area, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will operate remotely Wednesday.
