Tuesday will be quieter after Monday’s more active weather, with only a spotty thunderstorm possible before drier air moves in late Wednesday. The real change comes behind the front, as northerly breezes bring lower humidity to finish the week.

Today and Tonight:  Outside of a shower or two, coverage will be much lower than Monday. Temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s, with heat index values approaching 105.

Up Next: Drier air moves in Wednesday night. It won't bring a major temperature drop, but it will push dew points lower and turn winds northerly, making Thursday and Friday feel noticeably more comfortable.

Morning temperatures could fall into the 60s across the northern half of the area Thursday and Friday, while afternoon highs remain in the lower 90s. The dry pattern continues through the weekend, with rain chances staying around 10% or less for most areas through Sunday. Moisture begins returning late Sunday, so rain chances may start increasing again early next week.

Tropics: Tropical Storm Fay remains several hundred miles southwest of the Azores and will continue to weaken. A new tropical wave is expected to emerge from western Africa Wednesday, with a 30% chance of development over the next seven days as it moves into the eastern Atlantic.
