BATON ROUGE — A Baton Rouge police officer was recognized Tuesday for performing CPR on an elderly man suffering a heart attack after the city's downtown fireworks celebration on July 4.

After the fireworks ended, a family member approached Officer A'Neseya Dunn asking for help. Dunn immediately began administering chest compressions to the man.

She continued CPR until Emergency Medical Services and Baton Rouge Fire Department personnel arrived and took over.

The Baton Rouge Police Department formally commended Dunn for her actions during the medical emergency.
