DES ALLEMANDS — Emergency containment measures are underway following an oil well leak south of Des Allemands, according to Lafourche Parish officials.

Parish President Mitch Orgeron was notified of the incident Friday evening. Containment devices have already been deployed to mitigate the spill, and the owner of the well is actively mobilizing equipment to secure the site.

Local authorities are asking the public to stay away from the vicinity of the well while response operations continue. Parish officials said additional updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
