Jeanerette man arrested in Franklin shooting that left one hurt
FRANKLIN — A man was arrested hours after a shooting in Franklin left a person with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were sent to Highway 318 around 11 a.m. on Aug. 10 after reports of gunfire in the area. When they arrived, deputies say they found a male with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Detectives identified Deondre Johnson, 38, of Jeanerette as a suspect. He was taken into custody on Monday afternoon and booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on charges of aggravated battery and illegal use of weapons.
