BATON ROUGE - The Southern Jaguars lead Kentucky State 27-15 in their home opener.

Southern opened the scoring in the second quarter with a pick six by defensive back Tay James. Kentucky State scored a safety after running back Mike Franklin fumbled the ball, leading Southern to recover the ball in their own end zone.

With seven seconds left in the second quarter, Christian Jones threw a touchdown pass to Isaiah Pina. A missed extra point made the score 13-2.

Southern's Trey Holly and Khalil Davis made the score 27-2, but Kentucky State added two touchdowns of their own to make the score 27-15 heading into the fourth quarter.
