GREENSBURG — The St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Department mourned the loss of Lt. Mike Woodard on Saturday.

Woodard worked in law enforcement for over 42 years, spending most of that time with the St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office. 

He served in many different roles over the years, including serving as a Civil Process Server as well as handling funeral escorts. 

"It has been my honor and privilege to have worked with Mr. Mike for the past two years. He was a true asset and blessing to our office. He will be missed," said St. Helena Parish Sheriff Clay Chutz. 

Woodard's funeral will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the First Baptist Church of Greensburg. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m.

The burial will take place at the Greensburg Cemetery.
